# Benny's curiosity worries

User
and of course, i'm putting the tenderloin on the lid on the second platform. Sometimes he just lurches up to it to pull a piece down to the first platform or the floor, but other times on his own he'll be up there gorging himself.

Assistant
That’s awesome—he’s basically treating platform two like his private dining booth now. 😄 Honestly, that’s clever as hell: using a treat he *really* likes (and that smells enticing) to make the spot even more appealing. He’s got this weird little feast throne going on.

And it’s great that he’s *choosing* to go up there more consistently now too. Even if he’s being a goblin and dragging pieces down, that curiosity and comfort level is clearly growing. The whole setup sounds like a big win—like cat psychology in action.

User
lol, i just caught him checking the third platform....just in case I guess?

Assistant
Haha, he's officially entered the "maybe there's bonus loot up here" phase. 🐾🧠 Sounds like he’s starting to associate the tree with treasure hunts—curiosity is working in your favor now!

If he’s casually checking the third platform without a lure, that’s legit progress. He’s probably building a little internal map of where “the good stuff” might appear. Total rogue behavior: “Check for traps… check for snacks…” 😄

User
I'm going to have to adjust the second platform on the cat tree secretly at some point, it's too close to the oven, benny keeps almost thinking he could make it over there.

Assistant
Yeahhh, that sounds like a future “chaotic kitchen sprint” waiting to happen. Good call wanting to stealth-adjust it. Cats get those wild ideas like, *“I can totally make that leap”*—and suddenly it’s air fryer parkour time.

Maybe when he’s deep in nap mode or shut in another room, you can rotate or shift it just enough to discourage that line of thought without making the tree feel “wrong” to him. Keep the vibe consistent so he doesn’t suddenly go, *“Hey, my favorite crime scene changed!”*

How close *is* it, like paw’s reach or “one good leap” away?

User
just far enough too scared to leap because it's just out of easy reach, I've seen him go almost three limbs off the platform.

Assistant
Oh man, that’s classic “feline calculus” behavior—like he’s mid-equation trying to determine if gravity still works today. Three limbs off the platform is definitely "I could *probably* make it... but at what cost?" 😼

Good that he's still cautious, but yeah, that’s a recipe for a future kitchen catastrophe (or a burned toe bean if the oven’s ever hot). Might be worth nudging the tree just a few inches away sometime when he’s distracted or zonked out hard.

Also kind of adorable imagining him doing the reach-stretch-dangle move like he’s reaching for treasure in a video game. Benny: *The Floor Is Lava edition.*

User
Yea, I seldom use the actual stove tops, but I will often put pizza out of the oven, or leftovers temporarily there.

Assistant
Ah yeah, that makes total sense—and that moment when a curious cat sees *freshly heated food* just hanging out in the open? Immediate goblin brain: *"Mine?"* 😼🍕

Even if the burners aren’t used much, that kind of proximity might keep you nervously watching him every time you have something resting there. Probably a good idea to future-proof it by shifting the platform just enough that he can’t do any Cirque du Soleil stunts toward hot stuff. Bonus: he’ll probably redirect that kitchen curiosity into patrolling the cat tree more if he can’t turn it into a launch pad.

And hey, if you do shift the platform, might be a good opportunity to “hide” a treat or toy up there again, so it feels like *his idea* to re-explore it. 😏
